RAGBRAI XXXVIII COMES TO WHITTEMORE!

The thirty-eighth annual REGISTER'S ANNUAL GREAT BIKE RIDE ACROSS IOWA will pass through Whittemore, Iowa Monday, July 26, 2010 on the way to overnight destination Algona. Whittemore folks, famous for our hospitality and general fun atmosphere will not disappoint! As our guests arrive in town from the south, they'll stop by Noah's Park and the Whittemore Community Center, where they'll find music by JAMTIME PRODUCTIONS from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, cold beer, delicious homemade pie, tacos-in-a-bag, smoked turkey sandwiches, cold, cold water and Gatorade.

The huge Betsy-Ross style flag painted on the side of the community center building is a great place to have your picture taken, and the Veteran's Memorial located there just gets more beautiful every year.

Just a couple of blocks further north and you'll find the nice cool air-conditioned library. Our business district includes Schmitt Hardware, Thul Law Offices, Walker Furniture Restoration, Bonnstetter Auto Body, Whittemore Frozen Foods, Farmers State Bank, Pitchers Bar and Restaurant, Thilges Family Sausage, Supplies 'N More, the Post Office, Town and Country Hair, Al Processors and Elbert Chevrolet.

Stop in and visit our friendly merchants - they'll have some fun things in store for you too!

Cycle another couple of blocks and you'll find the zero-depth Municipal Swimming Pool with special rates for RAGBRAI participants that day from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. We're excited to welcome our bicycling friends again this year!
